Just thought I would share some pictures of our new Chariot Chinook. When I was looking to purchase it I found very little info on the Chinook online other than what is on the Chariot website.
I do plan to add some descriptions to the pictures as well as some more pictures of it in action once it warms up a bit here.
Feel free to comment or ask questions!

Above you can see the little latch which reclines the seat. Below is a picture of the seats in the reclining position.

With the chariot in reclining position and the back weather cover rolled back you can see perfectly into the chariot from above.
As you can see in the picture below, the seat height is approximatly 23 inches.
The seats with that bottom floor part (really don't know what to call it) in place.
The seats without the baby supporter padding in place. They harness seems to be really easy to adjust.
The seat pieces removed. The bottom of the seat removes easily which will be very nice come time to clean it.
There you have a quick review in pictures. Once it warms up and our 3 feet of snow melts I plan to be outside trying it out. I also hope to take some pictures of the bag as well as the car seat adaptor that comes with it. For now I hope that helps for anyone who is looking to purchase the Chariot Chinook 2 but can not go into a store to see it. If you would like anymore details or pictures please leave a comment. Thanks!

I would love to see pictures with your children in the Chinook. My older will be 20 month old when the younger one is born - and I am very interested in seeing the Chinook with the baby car seat adaptor in use :)
ReplyDeleteRegards, Asta.
I only have a 4 month old so I cannot really show the Chinook with multiple kids using it but here is some pictures of the car seat adaptor on the chinook.

Thank you thank you for your detailed pictures. Could you please measure the back panel for me? I'd like an idea of the max sitting height.
ReplyDeleteI measured the inside back panel and it was about 23 inches. To see a picture of where I took the measurement look at the 9th picture from the bottom of this post. Hope that helps!
DeleteWe want to purchase the Chariot Chinook 2 because we were told, that you won't need a baby seat with the Chinook since you can recline the seats. Since our son is 2 years old he is unlikely to have his seat reclined when taking a bike tour. Our daughter is 6 months old and she will need a reclined seat because she cannot sit yet. Is it possible to recline just one seat? If not how am I supposed to take both kids at the same time? Do I still need a baby seat then? I would appreciate your answer very much!
ReplyDeleteSincer
Hmm...good question Christina, I only have a 4 month old now but I was wondering how I'll make it work when we add a little sibling to the mix. You cannot recline just one seat. I am thinking I may be able to take my 4 month old in the Chinook for a bike ride with the seat up(not reclined) and use the head supporter and make sure the harness is really snug. But I haven't tried it yet so I really am not sure. The seat doesnt recline too far back but I could see a 2 year old not wanting to have it reclined at all.
DeleteDid that help at all?
*Just a note so I am not held liable for anything, the Chinook is not meant to be used as a bike trailer with children under 1 years old.
Hi Carrie, thank you so much for your answer! They have different recommendations in different coutries. In Germany they say that you can take a baby up from the age for 4 months for a bike ride. So you think you could take your baby on a bike ride with the seat up? Do you feel that your child sits comfortable with the baby supporter? Are you even allowed to take your kids on a bike ride with a reclined seat? I was wondering about that. I guess I'll just try to put both my children in the Chinook and see how they like it and if my younger daughter sits safely. Would you recommend the Chinook at all?
ReplyDeleteSincerely
You’re asking some tough questions! :) I think I would feel comfortable taking my baby for a bike ride if it was on pavement/sidewalks or other smooth surfaces. I'm not sure if I would take him down rough trails. Honestly my baby doesn't look that comfortable with the baby supporter...but just thinking to myself out loud, I might try putting a folded blanket behind his back so his head wouldn't lean forward as much when using the head supporter. I posted some more pictures with my baby in the Chinook (http://chinookchariot.blogspot.ca/2013/04/chariot-chinook-2-and-4-month-old.html).
DeleteI don't remember reading anywhere that I can't recline the seat while bike riding but again I would probably be ok with reclining it when riding on smooth surfaces but not on rough trails.
I think I would recommend the Chinook but I haven't used it enough to say for sure. It worked really really well with our one son during the two walks we took up town through snow/ice/puddles but we haven't used it anymore since then. The quality seems great and we love the features but again we haven't used it much. We are waiting for it to warm up and the 3 feet of snow to melt. :)
Does this not have a hand brake?! I so want this stroller because it has a ton of great features, but I have to have a hand brake. Thanks for posting such a great review!
ReplyDeleteNo it doesn't. The only brake on it is the foot brake. It is a great stroller!
DeleteWhat age can a baby go into the Chinook 2 ? I have a 20 day old and am wondering when I can put him in it reclined?
